Opened in January 2025, Chicago City Storage is a secure, indoor self-storage facility located in the heart of Lakeshore East, within the New Eastside community. Our facility is housed on the second floor of a residential high-rise at 400 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601, offering storage units ranging from 64 to 161 square feet.

1. How much does a self-storage unit cost? 

Storage units cost $275 to $400 per month to rent.

2. Are there any discounts?

Yes, some storage units offer the 12th month free to reward long-time customers.

3. What is the minimum contract term?

The minimum contract is 1 month.

4. What if I need to extend my contract by an extra week or two?

If inventory is available, we would be happy to extend your contract to accommodate your circumstances.

5. What fees do you charge? 

We charge a one-time administrative fee. We also charge fees for bounced checks and late payments. Please refer to your contract for details.

6. Do you require any deposits?

Yes, we require a security deposit equivalent to one month's rent. We also require a deposit for each FOB key and padlock. Deposits are refundable upon your return of unit, FOBs and padlock in clean, working condition. Please refer to your contract for details.

7. Can I use my own padlock? 

Yes, as long as you provide us with a spare key.

8. How much should I budget for if I only rent for 1 month?

9. Can I move items via the service elevators any time?

No, the service elevator must be reserved in advance to be keyed off for your move. The service elevator is available on Mondays-Fridays 8 AM to 4 PM only. The rules apply to all residents, homeowners, and tenants of our high-rise building.

10. What are the steps to rent a storage unit? 

First, schedule a visit to view the units.

Second, select your unit.

Third, sign a contract.

Fourth, pay.

Fifth, move smaller items in any time.

Sixth, schedule a service elevator for large items (bed, mattress)
